dc.description.abstract | Various teaching methods are needed to achieve the goals set in education. One of them is homework, which is one of the out-of-school learning techniques. Homework is determined in accordance with the objectives and achievements of the course in order to support the learning carried out at school. Homework prepared in this way has important effects on students, teachers and families. In this study, it was aimed to determine the broad effects of homework phenomenon and teachers’ thoughts on this process within the scope of teachers’ opinions. The data were collected from 53 teachers who voluntarily participated in the research, with an interview form prepared in line with the sub-purposes of the research. The research was designed with the phenomenology pattern, which is one of the qualitative methods. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis. As a result of the research, it was concluded that homework is necessary for students in terms of responsibility and duty awareness, homework provides opportunities for out-of-school learning by reinforcing what is learned at school, has positive reflections on the personality development of the individual, and effective solutions can be offered for the problems encountered in homework. In addition, it has been determined that the teacher’s effectiveness in the homework control process is important for the function of the homework, and that homework has a significant contribution on students, families and teachers as well.
