Plasma atomization technology is able to both melt and atomize a material which is fed into the converging plasma jets as a wire. Temperature and velocity distribution in a plasma jet obtained at the outer region of a plasma torch is very important to melt a solid wire and to disintegrate the liquid metal into fine spherical particles. In this study, a non-transferred arc plasma torch is designed and numerically solved for the determination of temperature and velocity distributions in the plasma jet. A high velocity nozzle attachment is assembled to plasma torches for increasing the jet velocity for atomization purposes. Results of numerical solutions with and without high velocity nozzle attachment are discussed and compared with experimental studies. It is found that high velocity nozzle attachment can be favourable in terms of the higher velocity and temperature distribution in the plasma jet at longer distances from the torch exit.

Effects of graphene oxide addition on wear behaviour of composite coatings fabricated by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) on AZ91 magnesium alloy
Kucukosman, Ridvan; Sukuroglu, Ebru Emine; Totik, Yasar; Sukuroglu, Suleyman (Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2021)Graphene oxide (GO) integrated composite coatings were deposited on AZ91 magnesium alloys by the PEO (Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation) and the treatment which has a post-PEO hydrothermal process. For the first group samples, ... -
Effects of voltage on the components of surface integrity of Al(2)O(3)ceramic coatings on AA2024 by plasma electrolytic oxidation
Matin, Reza; Totik, Yasar; Sukuroglu, Ebru Emine; Efeoglu, Ihsan; Santos, Telmo G. (Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2020)It is said that plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) is considered as an effective technique to boost the surface properties of light materials by means of forming ceramic films on their surfaces. In this study, three ... -
Investigation of structural and tribological properties of duplex surface treated pure titanium
Celik, I.; Karakan, M. (Redakcia Kovove Materialy, 2016)Commercial pure titanium (CP-Ti) is used in many engineering fields because of its superior properties such as excellent corrosion resistance, high strength/weight ratio, and biocompatibility. However, it is not available ...
