In this study, we aimed to synthesize resol type wood adhesive from resinification of cotton stalk liquefied into phenol in the presence of sulfuric acid as catalyst. The biomass was first liquefied with phenol in the presence of sulfuric acid as a catalyst at various reaction conditions. It was detected that increasing acid concentration, temperature and time resulted in a great decrease on the amount of unliquefied cotton stalks and a significant increase in the percentage of combined phenol in the produced resin. It was also found out that the resin produced from cotton stalks can be perfectly used in the production of wood composite materials.
