In this study, covering the academic publications and the development of urban geography in Turkey, after an extensive literature review was conducted especially on the databases of some libraries and the National Thesis Centre, the works identified were classified and some explanations were provided based on the findings. In this way, a collective reference source has been created for the students, academicians and other disciplines interested in the subject by gathering the urban-related studies of the geographers in Turkey, and the multi-dimensional view of the geography has been tried to be explained through the relevant literature. Additionally, the urban concept and its definitions have been emphasized, and the development process of urban geography in our country has been outlined with citations by dividing it into periods. The urban geography studies started in the first years of the Republic (1930s) in our country and showed a significant development especially after the 1950s mostly with articles. A new development process has started when the urban geography was started to be taught in the undergraduate programs in 1972, and the theses at different levels have increased as of this date. Consequently, it can be stated that the studies covering urban geography have progressed and increased intensively in the last fifty years in our country. Today, the number of geographers studying and publishing on urban-related subjects is increasing day by day with the effect of the rise in the geography departments and the urban geography lessons taught at these departments. In this respect, it is expected that the number of the genuine publications on urban covering almost all related subjects with rich content and visual materials will increase in the near future. In a similar way, it is anticipated in the upcoming period that postgraduate theses will be prepared aimed at planning, implementation and problem solving based on more qualified information and data. It is essential that the theses should be prepared as project-based rather than classic monography, considering the features of the subject studied. Preparation of the theses on urban geography in collaboration with different stakeholders in the city studied will also increase the contribution of theses to the solution of problemsen_US
